Stonecrop

Curly Lily

Tree of Life Cedar Tree

The cedar tree is our tree of life. We use the roots for weaving the inner bark for weaving and making baskets, the wood for carving, housing, tools and also medicine.

The Colors of Fall

Documenting for reference material this tiny Maple leaf against the weathered wood and the green in the background creates a beautiful color palate for a print.

Maple Leaves

The brilliant color of the Maple leaves tell us that fall is settling in and winter is on the way.

Finding Color Inspiration Everywhere

I am lucky to go for walks with my dad. Even at the age of 80 he still goes for walks with me. One day we found this telephone pole with this bright turquoise color at the bottom of it.

Natures Love

The image of a heart on this salal leaf shows us that love is all around us.

The Flowers of Salal

A New Flower I’ve Never Seen Before

The beautiful fragrance of this tiny flower that we found while hiking the West Coast Trail was intoxicating.

THIS OLD BRIDGE

This old bridge is still standing and supporting new life. It gives me time to pause and reflect on the journey.

LOOKING BEYOND

Looking past the layers of branches and trees to see the sunshine on the otherside. Always looking for the positive.

THE FIRST SIGNS OF SPRING

I think I must have hundreds of photos of these fewn liles. It is a sign that the winter months are coming to an end and spring is here.

WHERE I’M MOST AT HOME

My heart is most at home in the forests and deep in the mountains. I find my body and mind relseases and I can breath with ease.

WILD ROSE

A lot of the art pieces that I create are inspired from nature around me. I try to document as much as I can so I have a library of photos for my own references.

WAITING FOR THE FERRY

I used to take the ferry to work every morning regardless of the weather. One day I was looking over the edge and noticed all the patterns the raindrops were making.

HUNDREDS OF WATER DROPLETS

I find the creativity and preciseness of spiders webs to be beautiful. One day while walking with my mom by the ocean we found this spiders web that looked like lace.

FLYING HOME

I am lucky enough to be able to fly to the mainland for work and often get to see the spectacular views.

THE SPIDERS WEB

This spiders web wrapped about and restricted the branches of this plant. With the drops of dew it looks like jewellery. This would be an intricate idea for a necklase.

FROZEN FOG

While visiting my daughter we woke up to this spectacular show from nature. It was like we were in another world.

MY FAVOURITE PART OF THE MORNING

The colours are incredible as I was on my way to work one morning and the reflection on the water just made all that more stunning. This will inform colour choices for a piece.

NATURES LOVE

If you open your eyes and mind love is all around us and nature shows us all the time that we are loved.

REFLECTIONS

This is a little lake where the water is so calm it’s like a mirror.

INFILTRATING NATURE

This birds nest was at my sisters house and I noticed plastic string woven throughout. It is a piece that speaks to how we are impacting even the tinniest of homes.

PRARIE SUNSET

I’ve only ever seen this kind of sunset rainbow once in my life. A mask with this imagery would be impactful.

WEST COAST FLOWERS

I spend a lot of time walking in the forests on Vancouver Island and in the spring these tiny orchids grow in the old forests. These flowers are so tiny and would be a fun print to design.

TAKING MOM FOR A WALK IN HIGH HEAL BOOTS

When my daughters were younger and I was a single mom I often took them on work trips. This time they found a very long walk for us to go on. I love the colors of this photo and will use it in a print one day.

FINDING PEACE

For awhile I was kayaking in the ocean. I found peace, discipline, training, and calm here. It was a place where my spirit could rest. It would be fun to create an art piece that uses this kind of reflection.

DECORATING THE TREES

We were driving into town early one morning and the spiders webs were all covered with dew. Normally we wouldn’t be able to see how they cover the trees but on this particular morning you could see each web like tinsel on a Christmas tree.

BLINDING YELLOW

The colour of this Forsythia is almost blinding it so bright and beautiful. I drive past this every year in the spring and take photos of this beauty. I love the colour of the yellow against the blue sky. It hangs over a cement wall and the grey compliments the yellow.

HONEYSUCKEL

While in a secluded fishing town up island I was walking by these extremely fragrant honeysuckles and loved the water droplets and colour so snapped this photo.

LEARNING TO FISH

Over the last three years I have been learning to fish. I find the detail and being able to look at them up close has changed how I design.

NEW LIFE

Trying to document the first signs of the new life of a bracken fern. I’ve been working on a fern print design and am learning how they are put together.

HUNTING IN THE SNOW

The quietest most peaceful place on earth. We went on a fly in hunting trip in Northern BC and the remote untouched forest and lakes were stunning. We woke up to snow the first morning which amplified the quiet.
